Last week, Luxembourg hosted two important events for the European skills community: the Skills Development Workshop and the Skills meet Education session. These two expert meetings marked an important step in the preparation of EuroSkills Düsseldorf 2027, the European competition for young professionals, which Luxembourg will co-organize with Germany.
The 2027 edition of EuroSkills is already shaping up to be historic: for the first time, two countries will join forces to co-organize this major European event, making Luxembourg a true pioneer within the skills network.
Skills Development Workshop: an event focused on European collaboration
Over four days, the WorldSkills Luxembourg team had the privilege of welcoming Chief Experts from across Europe, the WorldSkills Europe team along with the presidents of the competition committees, as well as the organizers of EuroSkills 2027.
Together, they worked on aligning expectations, technical preparation, and the coordination required for an event of EuroSkills’ scale.
This workshop was a key milestone in strengthening ties between European stakeholders and laying solid foundations for the Düsseldorf edition. The rich, open, and constructive exchanges made it possible to move forward concretely in organizing Europe’s largest skills competition.
Hospitality during the four days of meetings was provided in collaboration with first-year students from the BTS Hospitality Management program at the Luxembourg School of Hospitality and Tourism.
Skills meet Education: where expertise meets education
Alongside the Skills Development Workshop, WorldSkills Luxembourg organized the “Skills meet Education” session at the Europa Experience visitor center.
This event brought together international experts, national experts, as well as teachers and education stakeholders in Luxembourg.
The objective was to jointly reflect on how to better integrate a culture of excellence into schools and to raise awareness of professional skills among students. The feedback, discussions, and ideas shared highlighted how collaboration between experts and the education sector can open new perspectives for young people.
Two events, one shared ambition
These two meetings demonstrated the strength of the WorldSkills Europe and WorldSkills Luxembourg community and the importance of working together to promote professions, inspire young people, and prepare an outstanding 2027 edition.
WorldSkills Luxembourg is a unit of the Department of Vocational Training within the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth. This unit is responsible for promoting a culture of excellence and organizing the national skills competition (LuxSkills), as well as coordinating Luxembourg’s participation in European (EuroSkills) and global (WorldSkills) skills competitions.
